Creating Statewide Child Care Facility Programs

CICK specializes in crafting statewide programs that address the capital and technical assistance needs of the child care industry in low-income communities. In Connecticut and Rhode Island, CICK has launched statewide facility funds that offer a comprehensive package of resources and services for the construction, renovation and improvement of quality child care facilities.

CICK has also brought its facilities financing and development expertise to a number of state government leaders. The program’s biggest impact to date was in helping to design the State of Connecticut’s child care facilities financing program. Administered by the Connecticut Health and Educational Facilities Authority (CHEFA), this innovative program has already generated over $40 million for the development of 20 new centers. CICK has worked with state officials in Vermont, Oklahoma, Maine and Pennsylvania to help craft plans for child care facilities initiatives.
